3D Room

The final project in my 3D design course in the Creative Technology and Design program at CU Boulder

This project is a living room with furniture I designed and modelled in Rhino. The goal for the project was realism and simplicity, as well as maintaining a cohesive design between all of the furniture pieces.

I started the creative process with some sketching of concepts and the basic look I wanted the furniture to have. All of the pieces share a common theme of arched corners and sleek metal structures. Some pieces, like the standing lamp, didn't work with this design, so they were eventually scrapped. The layout of the final render was pretty much set at this stage and I knew what I wanted to make, so I started to create rough versions of all of the objects in Rhino.

Once the Rhino models were finalized, I rendered the final scene in blender. This involved selecting each item's materials, setting the lighting and then baking the render. Tweaking the scene was a very involved process, as I wanted to make sure the lighting hit all of the reflective surfaces in a pleasing way, and that the colors and materials felt cohesive and complementary.
